Dr. Usha Salagame raised her voice to create an impact- as a Head and Neck Cancer consumer at the Federal Parliament House in Canberra!!

Organised by Head and Neck Cancer Australia and hosted by Parliamentary friends of cancer care and cure and attended by many Parliamentary members including Senator Deborah O’Neill HANCA board members, H&N surgeons, Health Department officials and allied health practitioners.

PSI celebrated and shared the highlights and success of our 7 year journey of community service in the cancer space with a sumptuous lunch and an uplifting movie on 16 July 2023.  An announcement was also made about the latest project CancerInfo & Care Project, funded by Cancer Institute NSW and the rejuvenated website was launched at the event.

PSI team attended the Cancer Innovations Conference 2023 held on 1 August 2023 at the Sofitel PSI advisor Padmini Peris, a cancer survivor who has worked tirelessly to ensure successful cancer outcomes for people from the South-Asian sub-continent, particularly those from Sri Lankan backgrounds shared her story at World Cancer Day in March 2023 at Cancer Institute NSW. A Diabetes information session organized by Diabetes Australia in conjunction with Pink Sari Inc. and Healthy Living Toongabbie was held at Wentworthville in May 2023 about diabetes, its impact including the risk of cancer, and lifestyle practices for its prevention.  The highlight was the Q&A session with a panel comprising an eminent Endocrinologist, Dietitian, Exercise Psychologist and a Diabetes Educator.

Event in Castle Hill on 5 June 2022

Not the Final Screen’, PSI commemorated the conclusion of the Cervical Screening Project at a well attended event in Castle Hill on 5 June 2022. PSI in partnership with Australian Indian Medical Graduates Association (AIMGA) and Australian Medical Aid Foundation (AMAF) led the ‘Cervical Screening for Survival’ project to raise awareness and improve screening rates in the Indian and Sri Lankan women in Western and South Western Sydney.

Multicultural Health Week on 25 September 202

PSI in collaboration with South Sydney Indian Association and South Asian Hindi School Kogarah celebrated Multicultural Health Week on 25 September 2022.  The event, which was funded by NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service, was presided by Hon Steve Kamper, Shadow Minister for Small Business, Property and Multiculturalism. Dr Nive Manokaran, Associate Professor Sanjay Warrier, and Dr Keval Pandya were the key speakers.

Pink Sari Inc. proudly launched two new projects, funded by the Cancer Institute NSW. ‘Beyond Pink’ and ‘Cervical Screening for Survival’ through a digital event on January 29th, 2021.

PSI together with Saree Enthusiasts organized a Pink Sari Cervical Screening information session on 18th April 2021 at Wentworthville. The event attracted several South Asian women all beautifully dressed in pink sarees eager to hear specialists speak about cervical cancer and the National Cervical Screening Program.

Cricket test match between Australia and India

The Pink Test was a great start to an exciting new year. PSI was invited by the McGrath Foundation to be part of the wonderful Pink Test held in Sydney on 6 January 2019. The cricket test match between Australia and India gave PSI a great platform to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of Breast Screening in the Indian and Sri Lankan communities

Songwriting Competitio

The Pink Sari National Songwriting Competition aimed to create awareness about the importance of breast screening amongst Indian and Sri Lankan communities. The competition was open to aspiring and professional songwriters and musicians from all communities. The Pink Sari Melodies Concert was the first event hosted by Pink Sari Inc. in November 2016 in partnership with NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service to celebrate the winners of the National Songwriting Competition and recognise the success of community efforts to increase breast screening rates in the Indian and Sri Lankan community.

2017 at Parramasala

Wearing pink saris, a large contingent of women from the South Asian community joined Pink Sari at Parramasala’s Opening Night Parade in Parramatta on 10 March 2017 to help raise awareness about breast cancer and breast screening.
